Learning that assassins disguised as pilgrims would murder him in the Haram, Imam Husayn (A.S.) converted Hajj to Umrah and departed on 8 Dhu al-Hijjah—the Day of Tarwiyah—to preserve the sanctity of the Kaaba.
جب معلوم ہوا کہ قاتل حاجیوں کی شکل میں حرم میں قتل کریں گے، امام حسینؑ نے حج کو عمرہ میں بدلا اور 8 ذوالحجہ—یومِ ترویہ—کعبہ کی حرمت بچانے کے لیے روانہ ہوئے۔
At Tan'im the Imam redistributed Yazid's caravan goods to the poor. At Sifah, al-Farazdaq summarized Kufa: "Their hearts are with you, but their swords are with the Umayyads." At Zubalah, news of Muslim's martyrdom reached the caravan; the Imam released followers from their oaths—only the devoted remained.
تنعیم میں امامؑ نے یزید کا مال غریبوں میں تقسیم کیا۔ صفہ میں فرازدقؑ نے کہا: "ان کے دل تمہارے ساتھ ہیں مگر تلواریں امویہ کے ساتھ۔" زبالہ میں مسلمؑ کی شہادت کی خبر ملی؛ امامؑ نے اصحاب کو عہد سے آزاد کیا—صرف وفادار رہ گئے۔
At Dhu-Husam, Hurr's vanguard of 1,000 cavalry intercepted the caravan. The Imam gave water to the thirsty enemy army and led them in prayer. He refused surrender to Ibn Ziyad; they agreed on a route neither to Medina nor Kufa as Hurr shadowed the caravan into the Iraqi plains.
ذوالحسام میں حر بن یزید ریاحی کی ہزار سواروں کی فوج نے قافلے کو روکا۔ امامؑ نے پیاسے دشمن کو پانی دیا اور نماز میں امامت کی۔ ابن زیاد کے حوالے کرنے سے انکار؛ راستہ نہ مدینہ نہ کوفہ—حر قافلے کا عراقی میدانوں میں پیچھا کرتا رہا۔
